Turning over a new leaf – Flora-tec helping to integrate exceptional inmates
For those of you who do not know, Flora-tec has an amazing initiative in place in partnership with the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and Carillion.
Currently, we have two inmates of HMP Springhill working on behalf of the company at various sites across the South. These guys, who are both coming to the end of their term at Springhill, are doing a fantastic job and are proving to be an integral part of our team. The guys are working for the Grounds Maintenance division of the company, this sees them completing a variety of tasks from lawnmowing to pruning.
We are very proud to be involved in helping re-integrate these men. Not only does this opportunity provide them with an income but it also helps to extend/improve their skill set and employability. Furthermore, this allows them to better prepare for life after their sentence and assist them in their transition into wider society.
Both men have received high praise not only from fellow workers but also from our clients. It is also known that they are really enjoying their work and it is giving them a great sense of responsibility. We are likely to continue to champion this initiative and assist other inmates to make a success of their opportunities upon their release.
